New Music

After many years of writing, refining, reworking, and quietly living with these melodies, I’m grateful to finally share my new album:

Be Still My Soul – Piano Arrangements by W. Michael Boyd

This project has been a long time in the making. Some of these arrangements began as simple sketches at the piano. Others evolved over time—shaped by performances, personal seasons of life, and countless hours searching for just the right harmonic color or melodic line. What you hear on this album represents my very best work—arrangements that feel complete, honest, and deeply meaningful to me.

Familiar Hymns, Fresh Expression

Each arrangement on Be Still My Soul seeks to honor the original hymn while offering something new. Throughout the album, you’ll hear additional melodies woven into the fabric of the arrangements. Some of these lines are original themes I’ve written specifically for these pieces. Others draw from well-loved melodies of different songs, thoughtfully integrated to create moments of surprise, depth, and reflection.

My goal was not simply to play the hymns—but to explore them. To expand them. To add a fresh take on them.

An Original Work: Pulse

In addition to the hymn arrangements, the album includes one original composition titled “Pulse.” This piece reflects the quiet rhythm that underlies much of the music on this record—the steady heartbeat of faith, longing, peace, and perseverance. It stands as both a contrast and a companion to the hymns that surround it.

Sheet Music Available

For pianists who would like to play these arrangements themselves, sheet music is available at Musicnotes.com. It’s my hope that these pieces will not only be heard, but played—in churches, homes, recitals, and quiet personal moments at the piano.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me through the years and supported this journey. I’m grateful to finally share this collection with you.

Be still—and listen.
